Au pair requirements for United Kingdom

The UK government provides a leaflet (INF16) which outlines the requirements for people coming to the UK as an au pair
Briefly anyone coming to the UK as an au pair must fulfil the following criteria;
You must show that you want to come to the UK on an au pair placement and that you:
• are not married or in a civil partnership
• have no dependants
• do not plan to stay in the UK for more than two years as an au pair
• can support yourself and live without getting any help from public funds, and
• intend to leave the UK when you complete your au pair placement.
Which nationalities are permitted to come to the UK on an au pair placement?
Any citizen from the European Economic Area is free to take up and au pair placement in the UK these include Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France,
Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta,
Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden,
Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway
also Swiss nationals whilst not part of the European economic Area are permitted to take up an au pair placement in the UK.
plus the following countries are included in the au pair scheme
Andorra, Faroe Islands, Romania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Greenland, San Marino,
Bulgaria, Macedonia, Turkey, Croatia and Monaco
Do you require a Visa?
Nationals of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Romania and Turkey must get a visa before they travel to the UK.
